   >  Registering for the Race
>  Where do I register?
You can register online at www.pranburitriathlon.com/registration.html. Race registration is now open. To avoid disappointment register as soon as possible!
>  I would like to change my race details.
If you would like to change your race details send an email to
>  I am unable to race due to illness/injury. Can I get a refund?
Once the registration form has been processed, there will be no fee refund for the participants who, for whatever reason, eventually do not take part.
>  Do I have to qualify to enter the event?
No, as long as you are fit, healthy and capable of completing the event anyone can enter.
>  When is the entry deadline?
Registration will be closed once the race reaches maximum capacity or 13th October 2007.
>  Can I transfer my entry to another athlete if I choose not to race?
Individual race entries are non-transferable. Any person doing so will be held responsible in case of an accident arising from or provoked by the other person during the race. The Organizers reserve the right to exclude both parties from future events.
>  Can I enter on race morning?
Registration will close on Oct 13 - no entries will be accepted on race-day.
 
   >  Pre Race / Onsite Race Registration
>  Is race registration compulsory? What do I need to bring with me to the race registration?
Onsite Race Registration is compulsory. Please bring a copy of your registration and transaction confirmation, and a photo ID (passport or driver’s license) to the race registration counter for verification and collection of your race kit and goodie bag.
>  Can I practice on the Triathlon cycle course prior to the event?
Yes, however, once the event is underway only participants are allowed on the race course. If you want to practice on the course, you can take part in our led ride round the course on Thursday 18th October starting from the front of the Evason at 07:00.
>  Do I need to collect my race kit in person at registration or can I send somebody to collect it on my behalf?
If you are unable to collect the race kit in person at race registration, you may appoint a representative. The representative must present a photocopy of the participant’s photo ID (passport or driver’s license) to the race registration counter for verification and collection of race kit and goodie bag.
>  Is the race briefing compulsory?
Yes the briefing is compulsory to ALL athletes as important information will be included. Missing the briefing leaves you at risk of missing vital information that may not be covered in the race booklet.
>  Where do I get my official Pranburi International Triathlon 2007 T-Shirt?
You will receive your t-shirt at registration in your goodie bag.
>  Where do I get my timing chip?
Timing chips are included in the race kit and given out at race registration.
>  Where do I pin my race number?
You have to wear your race number on the back of your shirt during the cycle section and on the front of your shirt during the run section.
>  Where is the transition area?
To be confirmed
>  Who can enter the transition area?
Only participants are allowed to enter the transition area.
>  Where do I pick up my race number if I don’t have one?
You can pick up your race number at the race registration.
>  Can I race with an MP3 or other music player?
At no time during the competition are headphones permitted, as stated in the rules and regulations. Participants wearing such items will be disqualified.
>  What are the age restrictions?

Participants racing in the Sprint distance triathlon must be 13 years old and above on race day to compete in the race individually, and 11 years old and above to be part of a Sprint distance relay team.

Participants racing in the Olympic distance triathlon individually or in a relay team must be 15 years old and above on race day to compete in the race.

>  What is in my race kit?
1 x Timing Chip (to be worn around your left ankle)
2 x Race Bibs (to be worn on the back during the bike leg; and on the front during the run leg)
1 x Bike Tag (to be secured with the provided tie wraps)
 
   >  Swim
>  What are the wave starts?
The two races (Sprint and Olympic) will start separately but all competitors in each race will go off at the same time.
>  What is the swim course like?
The Swim is held in the clear blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand, off Pranburi Beach. It will be one lap of 1500m.
>  What is the water condition like?
Water conditions in October are calm, with excellent visibility and a temperature of ???.
>  What are the considerations for a swimmer who gets in trouble during the event?
Swimmers in difficulty shall signal by raising an arm to the escorting boats/canoes for assistance. Once assistance is rendered, the competitor must retire from the competition.
>  Are wetsuits permitted?
No, wetsuits are not allowed.
 
   >  Bike
>  I’ve forgotten my bike helmet; can you provide me with one?
No. Note that you are not allowed to take part without a helmet.
>  I don’t have a bike. Can I still participate?
If you don’t have a bike on race day, you will not be able to race. However you can rent a bike from us in advance. Mountain and hybrid bikes can also be hired for the race. Contact us for more details.
>  Who can enter the transition area?
Only participants wearing the safety bracelet are allowed to enter the transition area.
>  Where do I put my bike in the transition area?

All racks are labelled according to your number. At the start of the race and when you return from the bike section you must place your bike on your designated space in the transition area.

Please remove your bike as soon as possible after your race.

All bikes will be removed from the transition area after 14:30 (as the transition area will be dismantled), any bikes / equipment still remaining will be removed to the lost and found area. Race number will be required as prove if picking up a bike from the lost and found.

>  What if I do not dismount before entering cycle transition?
You will face disqualification from race officials.
>  When should I be checking in my bike before the race?
The transition area opens 1.5 hours before race start.
>  How long can I keep my bike in cycle transition after my race is completed?

Please remove your bike as soon as possible after your race.

>  Am I allowed to run in the transition area?
Yes.
>  Do you have any tools that I can borrow?
No, but head over to our onsite bike mechanics and they will be able to assist.
>  Is the event run on closed roads?
No, although the course is exceptionally quiet and well marshalled – it is still open to public use. Please adhere to normal road rules.
>  Do I need an expensive bike to compete in the triathlon? Can I use my mountain bike?
No. Of course not! Just ensure your bike is road worthy condition. Our mechanics will be able to help you out with any last minute woes you may have.
 
   >  Run
>  Does someone keep track of the number of laps I do?
No, you must count your own laps. However the electronic timing mats will tell us of anyone who has missed any laps out after the race.
>  What are the cut-off times on the course?
The course for both races will be closed at approx 12:30 and any athletes remaining on the course will be removed. Athletes removed from the course will not be disqualified. They will have their times recorded and receive a finishers’ medal.
 
   >  After the Race
>  What do I do with my timing chip when the race is over?
All chips will be collected at the finish line by race staff. Please return your chip to the medical team if you do not start or finish your race.
>  What if I accidentally take my timing chip home with me?

>  Where and when are the medal presentations?
Medals are handed to every finisher at the finish line. A relay finisher will receive a medal for each team member.
>  What if I am a winner in one of the categories, and will not be attending the Awards Dinner?
If you have won a trophy in one of the categories, and are not present at the Awards Dinner, your trophy will be mailed to you.
>  Where can I find my results?
Official times will be posted at www.pranburitriathlon.com within 48 hours
>  I have a protest/complaint/suggestion.
Please proceed to the race office within one hour after the race.
 
   >  Transporting Bikes
>  Do I need to pack my bike in a box for the flight?
Yes. A cardboard bike box is sufficient. Contact your local bike store to pack it for you if you need help.
>  How will I get my bike to the hotel?

No.

Race photos will be available and will be displayed at the awards banquet, and will be available for purchase.
